Our role is to prepare you and your dog for testing. You should contact the organisation you wish to work through for details of their test in your home State.
We can assist with training puppies in our Super Puppy Course, older dogs in Pet Dog Manners or private lessons. We are located in Carrum Victoria. If you require a trainer in your suburb or you are interstate, please see the Pet Professional Guild Australia or Delta Society Australia websites for trainers.
Teams are trained volunteers and their dogs which are tested and accredited by a variety of organisations to visit hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, mental health unit and schools.
We have also had great results assisting those who choose to train their own dogs as assistance dogs, psychiatric service dogs or hearing dogs.
Jennifer Wilcox has trained four therapy dogs that have worked as therapy dog teams in both hospitals and schools. We are very proud to have worked at Bonbeach Primary school assisting with their literacy program for Grade 1 Students.
Beginning readers require time to practise their skills and opportunities to learn without fear of failure. This is what makes Larry the perfect companion. He is an attentive, adoring, non-judgemental listener. Children gain confidence, discover the joy of reading and develop their skills in a relaxed, calm, positive atmosphere. Having him here also provides opportunities for children to learn about safety around dogs. We feel very fortunate to have Jennifer and Larry as members of our Bonbeach Primary School team!

I started basic classes at Paw Behaviour with my Golden Retriever-Kuma when he was about 8mths. Kuma dragged me around the first lesson but that was the last time, with Jen’s tips & patience Kuma became the well mannered, best mate a lady could have. Kuma is approaching 4yrs now & volunteers at the Royal Childrens Hospital with myself as a therapy dog. He is an ambassador for the Lort Smith Pet Therapy Program, going to functions such as the AGM & The Doglovers Show as an example of the wonderful, well behaved pooches in the program. Recently we were interviewed on a
local network program for the disabled, discussing how animals are a valuable tool in this area. Kuma & I would not have achieved this without Jen at Paw Behaviour, & enjoy our catch up lessons to keep on top of our training. I recommend Paw Behaviour to anyone with a new pup or an old dog, whether its to start off or tweek a problem here & there you wont find a better place for you & your furiend to learn.

I finally bit the bullet and purchased another puppy to train to take over from my older dog. He's a psychiatric assistance dog, so this seemed like a daunting task. I had NO clue how to task train my dog, and I was half convinced I wouldn't be able to. Paw Behaviour changed that. Over the eight week super puppy course, I learned how to teach my dog anything, and he learned how to focus, be confident and well mannered. He did so well we decided to keep going, and signed up for the basics class as well. I'm so glad I did. For every problem I've encountered, Jennifer has a solution, and I've gained a better understanding for my dog than I thought possible. I've been through a lot of trainers in the last few years before I found Paw Behaviour. I never went back to any others, and Paw Behaviour is the only one I recommend, and will continue to return to.
